CONGRATULATIONS GERHARD GULEWICZ - 2ND

Austrian Gerhard Gulewicz came second behind Dani Wyss. Gulewicz finished the race at 2:33pm on the 26th of June. The Race Across America took Gerhard 8 days, 22 hours and 54 minutes and he averaged 14.06mph.

"It's an incredible feeling in the toughest bike race in the world once again to be among the top three to the finish line. Due to problems with the stomach at the start of the race it was anything but easy. A time under 9 days is enough for me. My goal was to in 8 days and 16 hours.

Because of the problems with the stomach during the first 48 hours, this was unfortunately not possible."

Gerhard supported the charity, wings for life.

The Wings for Life Spinal Cord Research Foundation is a privately funded non-profit organization which follows the principal aim of promoting research worldwide in order to expedite scientific and clinical progress towards a putative cure for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Paralysis.

Gerhard did an amazing job and can be proud of his effort. With his consistent top 3 finishes over the last few years, he is capable of winning RAAM. I think he will within the next 5 years.

Congratulations Gerhard Gulewicz - Well Done!

The solo men and women racing RAAM come from all walks of life, all age groups and represent countries in North and South America, Europe and Africa. The "race of truth" knows no shortcuts - 3,000 miles in a single stage is not for the faint of heart, body or soul.
