Jure Robic 2009 RAAM

The Race Across America provides a platform for people to test themselves in extreme conditions. These conditions impact a person’s physical and mental capacities as they advance deeper and deeper into the race. Sleep deprivation, exhaustion, personal dynamics and weather conditions are just some of the influences placed on our racers and crew.

Competitors vary in their responses, some go on to finish or even win their division, others face obstacles too great to manage and they are forced, or voluntarily, conclude their effort.

Jure Robic stopped racing in this year’s RAAM. The reasons for his refusal to continue racing are unclear at this time. No officials protests, complaints or documentation have been received at this time.

RAAM management, staff and officials wish Mr. Robic well.

The solo men and women racing RAAM come from all walks of life, all age groups and represent countries in North and South America, Europe and Africa. The "race of truth" knows no shortcuts - 3,000 miles in a single stage is not for the faint of heart, body or soul.
