Maize, Kansas - Jure Robic

Even champions feel RAAM. Robic, (pictured below) labours along the flats of Kansas. It is 95 degrees, the winds variable, but generally speaking these are hellish conditions for a rider. Especially after 1,500+ miles in the saddle in 4 days.

The solo men and women racing RAAM come from all walks of life, all age groups and represent countries in North and South America, Europe and Africa. The "race of truth" knows no shortcuts - 3,000 miles in a single stage is not for the faint of heart, body or soul.
