WILDCATS FOR BRETT, 4-RIDER RAW TEAM REACHES TAOS

VIC’S RAAMIFICATIONS WILDCATS FOR BRETT, 4-RIDER RAW TEAM REACHES TAOS Taos, New Mexico By Vic Armijo The team Wildcats For Brett was a happy crew of four that reached Taos, New Mexico yesterday to take the win in the 4-rider Race Across the West. Riding in memory of their friend Brett, they covered the 1044 miles in 2 days, 20 hours and 56 minutes. Your RAAM reporter spoke with Scott Foreman, the one that the other three members all pointed to when asked “Who’s the instigator here?” Foreman felt different, “I think that this idea was sort of implanted in my brain by the poltergeist of Brett,” he said. According to Foreman their was went “…exeptionally well. There were the expected unexpected circumstances. But we worked through it pretty well. One of our key players got sick so last night was more of a three-man event. We’re really excited to have finished and to have come in at a pretty good time. On average we did about 45 minute pulls. If we were to do it again we might do shorter pulls, especially on the climbs as some teams do. It was starting to wear us out, particularly going into the head wind. That really drained us two nights in a row.” Foreman remarked that Manga Pass was a memorable moment for him, “10,200 feet in the rain!” and said that the whole experience is something he and his team will cherish, “This was all an opportunity for the four of us to get together, which we haven’t done since we graduated.” To conclude this post-race interview, I asked Forman to tell our readers a little about their departed friend, Brett, “There’s no little bit to tell about Brett. He was a kind adventurous soul with a lot of energy. None of us could keep up with him. It took out cumulative adrenalin to keep up with Brett. He was a remarkable human being who was an inspiration and he always looked on the bright side of things. That’s sort of cliché to say, but it’s true.
